AANE (Asperger/Autism Network)
This webinar will introduce participants to the practice of supported decision-making–an alternative to guardianship recommended by national organizations that allows people with disabilities and other potentially vulnerable individuals a voice in the decision making process. Rather than having choices made for the individual, a support team helps the person make their own decisions. This empowering and person-centered practice is increasingly seen and recommended as an effective means of support, which retains and strengthens the person’s rights. The session will also show how it can be combined with other forms of support for the individual.
